The taku opened at Excelsior Hotel Ernst on 9 October 2001. It has held a Michelin star continuously since 2011. Led by Cologne-born chef Mirko Gaul, the kitchen combines East Asian flavours with European culinary techniques. Inspirations gathered in cities such as Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo regularly inform the restaurant’s dishes.
The anniversary menu will be available from 1 to 31 October 2026. Its six courses include Dutch hamachi with horseradish, miso and yuzu, salmon trout with buttermilk and Sichuan pepper, and A5 wagyu with wasabi and yuzu kosho. The menu concludes with the taku “Snickers”, featuring banana, peanut and caramel.
The menu is served from Tuesday to Saturday, starting at 6:30 p.m. The four-course option costs EUR 121, while the six-course menu is priced at EUR 165. A specially selected anniversary wine complements the culinary programme.
Located within Excelsior Hotel Ernst, taku is also suited to business dinners and accompanying programmes for conferences, congresses and corporate events in Cologne. Regular formats such as Four Hands Dinners, wine dinners and kitchen parties further extend the restaurant’s event portfolio.
