Thanks to the near-complete use of renewable energy in the electricity sector at GenoHotel Forsbach, only low emissions result from its energy supply. A total of 685,150 kg of CO₂, or 21.26 kg of CO₂ per overnight stay, was recorded. In addition, the food and beverage offering has been adjusted: the proportion of meat-based dishes has been reduced, while the vegetarian and vegan selection has been expanded.
Further measures are planned for the coming years. These include further reducing the proportion of meat, electrifying the company vehicle fleet, and enabling guests to offset the CO₂ emissions associated with their event or stay. Employees and guests will also be made even more aware of issues such as food waste, laundry consumption and energy saving.
With their annual CO₂ accounting, the GenoHotels are creating an important basis for a continuous improvement process—and making their sustainability performance transparently traceable for event planners and business customers.
