Koelnmesse has been awarded “Digital Champion 2026” in the latest study conducted by ServiceValue on behalf of DEUTSCHLAND TEST and FOCUS MONEY. In a cross-industry comparison of around 16,500 companies, the top ranking underlines the strong public perception and reputation of Cologne’s exhibition centre in terms of digital performance. The study is based on a two-stage process combining an in-depth company survey on digitalisation measures with comprehensive media and social media monitoring.
“The ‘Digital Champion 2026’ award is both confirmation and motivation for us. It shows that our clear strategic focus on data, platforms and digital business models is the right path,” says Gerald Böse, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koelnmesse. The objective is to further advance digital transformation and create measurable added value for customers through innovative solutions.
A key factor in the evaluation is the continuous expansion of digital offerings. Koelnmesse is consolidating its services on a central, website-based platform complemented by an app, for example in the context of gamescom 2026. Exhibitors and visitors will access information, services and contacts across all channels in a consistent environment. Personalised recommendations, digital navigation tools and networking features support informed decision-making and facilitate meaningful on-site encounters.
At the same time, Koelnmesse systematically leverages data to refine its services. New analytics systems enable more precise visitor flow management and faster optimisation of offerings. Internal processes are increasingly automated and products further developed to enhance the overall trade fair experience.
Digitalisation is also becoming tangible on site, with planned NFC-based access solutions at entrance gates to streamline and accelerate admission processes. These measures are complemented by comprehensive AI initiatives covering both infrastructure and customer-facing applications.
“We take a holistic view of digitalisation – from technical infrastructure and data optimisation to concrete customer applications. What matters is creating real added value and making trade fair success measurable and transparent through digital solutions,” adds Patrick Wölke, Senior Vice President Digital at Koelnmesse.
With this strategic approach, Koelnmesse strengthens its competitive position among international exhibition venues and actively shapes the digital future of the MICE industry.
