Industry magazine Pollstar lists Cologne's multifunctional arena in 8th place globally with 592,811 guests (excluding sporting events) in the first half of the year.

Germany's largest and best-attended multifunctional arena continues to deliver good figures: In the evaluation of the Mid-Year Pollstar Ranking, Cologne's LANXESS arena achieved eighth place globally in terms of ticket sales. With 592,811 tickets sold in the ‘Concert’, ‘Show’ and ‘Entertainment’ categories, the ‘Henkelmännchen’ ranked in the global top 10 and the European top 5 in the first half of 2024 - as it has regularly done in the past 15 years. In a national comparison, the Deutz arena is at the top as befits its status.

The renowned industry magazine ‘Pollstar’ publishes the guest numbers of the world's most successful multifunctional arenas on a quarterly basis. The statistics do not include the event segments ‘sport’ and ‘corporate events’, which means that the extensive main and final rounds of the EHF EURO in January and the record crowd of the Cologne Sharks are not included in the ranking. In total, more than 1 million people flocked to Cologne's LANXESS arena in the first half of 2024.

Stefan Löcher, Managing Director of ARENA Management GmbH, is grateful for the good position in the Pollstar ranking: "We are delighted that the LANXESS arena has achieved 8th place worldwide in the Pollstar Midyear Ranking. With almost 600,000 tickets sold in the ‘Concert’, ‘Show’ and ‘Entertainment’ categories, we can be very satisfied at the half-year mark.Especially when you consider that we played an extensive European Handball Championship here with over 335,000 guests, which is not included in the ranking and as a result, for example, dates for the ‘Lachende Kölnarena’ were cancelled. These figures not only emphasise our success in the event sector, but also the immense economic importance of the arena for Cologne. We generate considerable business tax revenue, strengthen local public transport and revitalise both the local gastronomy and retail sectors. We also create around 1,000 direct and indirect jobs and provide significant support for the hotel industry. In Cologne, the arena acts as an important booster for trade, commerce and catering in the region. These successes would not be possible without our dedicated team and our numerous guests. Finally, a big thank you to all employees, all organisers and the artists."

The Arena event calendar is also packed with highlights in the second half of the year. In September, the Kölner Haie start the DEL season 24/25, multiple shows by Ayliva (3), Peter Fox, Cat Ballou and BAP (all 2) await the Cologne live audience, and with the Jonas Brothers and Janet Jackson, further world stars are making guest appearances in the cathedral city on the Rhine. The Fantastischen Vier, Deichkind, Cro and Trettmann, among others, also ensure top dates in the national arena calendar. With ‘Elfter im Elften - immer wieder kölsche Lieder’, the start of the carnival season will also be celebrated in style, as it has been since 1999.
