New General Manager for the art'otel Cologne

Hans de Waart took over management of the art hotel on the Rhine riverbank, part of Arena Hospitality Group, at the end of the year. Philip Skitch, who had led the property since August 1, 2012, has entered his well-deserved retirement.

For Hans de Waart, a native of the Netherlands, a career in hospitality was almost predestined. His grandmother worked as a housekeeper and his grandfather as Chef de Cuisine at the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam. It seemed only natural that he would follow a similar path, starting in December 1995 as Front Office Manager at Park Plaza Utrecht. He went on to serve as Operations Manager at Park Plaza Utrecht and later as Hotel Manager at Park Plaza Eindhoven.

In 2003, he moved to Germany, where he managed the art'otel Berlin Ku'damm. Hans de Waart played a leading role in Park Plaza’s market entry in Berlin. In 2006, he became Hotel Manager of the Park Plaza Wallstreet Berlin, which opened that same year. In 2011, he additionally took over the art'otel Berlin Mitte. After a period as Interim General Manager at art'otel Dresden, he was appointed General Manager of both art'otel Berlin Mitte and Park Plaza Wallstreet Berlin Mitte.

Since the end of 2025, he has held a dual role managing both art’otel Berlin Mitte and art'otel Cologne, bringing fresh momentum to the Rhine.
