In July 2023, Leonardo Hotels opened a new hotel just under three kilometres from Cologne-Bonn Airport. The Leonardo Royal Cologne Bonn Airport is located in Cologne's Urbach district and is connected to the international hub via a 24-hour shuttle service. The new addition with 250 elegant rooms and a spacious conference area is primarily designed for business travellers, conference and stopover guests. Together with the Leonardo Köln Bonn Airport, the Leonardo Royal Köln Am Stadtwald and the Leonardo Köln near the trade fair centre, the fast-growing hotel group now has four locations in the cathedral city on the Rhine.
The premium brand Leonardo Royal Hotels stands for stylish design, high-quality furnishings and first-class service: the brand's new hotel at Cologne Bonn Airport presents itself accordingly with comfort and cosiness at a high level, where guests will find spacious rooms for relaxation or undisturbed work. The signature elements of the Leonardo Royal Hotels include an innovative open lobby concept, which in the Leonardo Royal Cologne Bonn Airport includes a 130 square metre bar as well as a light-flooded restaurant with an outdoor terrace and space for 250 people. The ten "Leonettes", hotel rooms designed by women for women, are just as unusual, with furnishings and location tailored entirely to female travellers, free from clichés. A particular highlight of the newcomer near the airport is the building architecture inspired by aviation. The three-dimensional façade reflects the turbulence of an aerofoil profile.
For events and meetings, the hotel offers a 200 square metre conference foyer and a total of six flexible conference rooms covering an area of around 745 square metres, which can accommodate up to 180 people. All conference rooms have natural daylight, are air-conditioned and equipped with high-quality technology including a projector, screen and sound system as well as free Wi-Fi. The 227 square metre inner courtyard is directly adjacent to the conference area and is perfect for outdoor events and break-out sessions. The hotel also offers a 24-hour business centre with all services, a lounge for airline crews and a gym for exercise before boarding.
Sustainable by all means
The Leonardo Royal Cologne Bonn Airport also sets a clear example in terms of sustainability. The Leonardo Royal Cologne Bonn Airport was the first hotel within the Leonardo Group to be certified with the "Green Key" eco-label, the top international standard for sustainable management in the tourism industry, when it opened. The newcomer is thus maintaining the company's ambitious course, which aims to achieve Green Key certification for all Leonardo hotels in Europe by the end of 2024. The facilities at the Leonardo Royal Cologne Bonn Airport include its own photovoltaic system on the roof and a climate-friendly food concept. Levantine and predominantly vegetarian dishes are served in the bar and restaurant, in keeping with the hotel group's Israeli roots. Wherever possible, the products are sourced locally.
"With the opening of the Leonardo Royal Cologne Bonn Airport, we are continuing our successful expansion strategy in Europe," explains Yoram Biton, Managing Director Leonardo Hotels Central Europe. "The new hotel is a premium product with class and a sustainable approach that we are very proud of. With this concept, we are moving into the future and further expanding our presence in attractive locations. In Cologne, we offer business travellers a top location for stopovers, meetings and events. Leisure travellers enjoy upscale hospitality and international flair close to the airport."
