Despite a demanding geopolitical and economic environment, Koelnmesse continues to rank among the leading international trade fair organisers. “Our development shows that strong brands, international presence and long-term investments create stability and growth even in volatile times,” says Gerald Böse, President and CEO of Koelnmesse. Key growth drivers included established flagship events, a strong congress business in Cologne and the consistent expansion of the global portfolio.
Anuga, with over 8,000 exhibitors from 110 countries, was among the year’s major highlights. gamescom also achieved new benchmarks in terms of international reach and exhibition space. At the same time, Koelnmesse continues to develop its brand families strategically, strengthening value chains through formats such as ISM Ingredients.
With 79 events worldwide in 2025, including eight premieres, the company further expanded its global footprint. The German Pavilion “Wa! Germany” at Expo 2025 in Osaka welcomed more than three million guests and received two awards, underlining Koelnmesse’s expertise in delivering major international projects.
The new Confex conference and exhibition centre hosted more than 40 events in its first full year of operation, reinforcing Cologne’s position in the international congress market.
According to a Prognos study, Koelnmesse events generate around €2.64 billion in economic impact annually across Germany, securing approximately 25,000 jobs. In Cologne alone, they account for around €1.36 billion in economic effects.
Looking ahead, Koelnmesse expects 2026 to be a challenging trade fair year due to cyclical scheduling and ongoing economic and geopolitical conditions.
