Haxenhaus

The Haxenhaus combines a historic atmosphere, Cologne-style hospitality, and an exceptional location right in the heart of Cologne’s Old Town. Situated directly on the Frankenwerft and along the Rhine, this traditional tavern offers an authentic setting for corporate parties, Christmas parties, birthdays, group events, and other special occasions. The historic building boasts a history stretching back centuries, and its rustic interiors create an ambiance that blends classic Cologne charm with a unique, memorable experience.

Events

Various areas are available for events. The ground floor can accommodate up to 110 people. On the first floor, the “Saalkammer” offers space for up to 55 people, while the smaller “Sälchen” is suitable for groups of up to 20 people. Both rooms can be combined to accommodate up to 75 guests. In addition, spaces are available for conferences and meetings. A digital flipchart can be used for presentations and business events. The view of the Rhine is a particularly attractive feature.

For exclusive corporate events, the entire restaurant can also be booked upon request. This allows the Haxenhaus to be entirely at a group’s disposal, offering a private setting for custom events and private functions.

Culinary-wise, the Haxenhaus is known for its down-to-earth, regional cuisine. The restaurant is particularly famous for its freshly grilled pork knuckles in various styles, as well as its homemade bratwurst. Large banquet tables and cozy seating areas accommodate both smaller gatherings and group meals with larger parties.

A special program for events is the Luoderei®—the medieval banquet. Live performances, historical entertainment, and a shared meal immerse guests in medieval Cologne. The program can also be booked exclusively for groups and is ideal, for example, for corporate events, conferences, or Christmas parties that aim to go beyond a traditional group meal. Upon request, the medieval banquet can also be conducted in English, making it suitable for international groups and guests as well.

Thanks to its central location, the Haxenhaus is also easily accessible for out-of-town guests. The Heumarkt stop is about a five-minute walk away, and Cologne’s main train station is reachable in about ten minutes on foot. Thus, the venue combines a characteristic Old Town location with short distances to numerous sights and transportation connections in downtown Cologne.
