The 2025 annual conference of the German Society for Social and Cultural Anthropology invites participants to critically examine the possibilities and politics of un/commoning—or de/socialization—as they are currently being discussed in the context of multiple crises for a sustainable and just way of dealing with our planet and with each other.
It calls for a renewed discussion of the question of what can be common to whom as part of situated and localized debates in light of current ethnographic research. This includes, not least, critical reflection on whether, how, and by whom the knowledge, methods, and theories of the discipline can or should be used to solve cross-border challenges.
